Descrizione
Built in 1623, Santa Bárbara is the most original of Tunja's churches. In the chancel is an abundantly sculpted gilded altar, offset by the arch with plant motifs in front of it. Organised to house chapels, the two arms of the transept culminate in superbly ornate retables presenting numerous details enhanced with gold leaf. The ceiling is covered with hand-painted garlands of roses.
