This neighbourhood is the trendy showcase of Brooklyn, originally adopted by artists who were priced out of Manhattan. At the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, industrial wastelands have now given way to lofts and luxury apartments. The area centres on Bedford Street and Berry Street, to the north of the bridge. This is the hub of trendy restaurants, bars and shops. Visit Williamsburg at the weekend if you can, when the flea markets attract strollers and hipsters.
