This oasis of calm was founded in 1176 by the Umiliati religious order. The abbey's façade features Lombard Romanesque and Gothic elements, with a fine Madonna and Child by the maestri campionesi at the doorway. Inside, note the remarkable frescoes, including a Madonna and Child attributed to Michelino da Besozzo. The Last Judgement (1350) is a masterpiece by Giusto de' Menabuoi, one of Giotto's pupils.
