Karaites have lived in Trakai since the tail end of the 14C, when Vytautas brought them over from Crimea to guard the fortress. Today, of the few Karaites who do live here, most inhabit Karaimų gatvė. Walk down this street to take in their colourful wooden houses, all built to the same model. You can also visit the Karaite Ethnographic Museum (at no 22) and a prayer house (Kenesa) at no 30.
