In the 17C a hermitage still existed near the small fort called "La Montmorencette", named after the Duke of Montmorency, who had it constructed against Barbary pirates. After the duke's revolt, the fort was dismantled and a former bunker was converted into an expiatory chapel, later dedicated to Notre Dame de la Salette. It attracts pilgrims all year round but especially on 19 September. Splendid panoramic view from the presbytery terrace.
