The church of the Assumption boasts a fine ceiling in the shape of a ship's hull. It is home to a beautiful, elaborately carved iconostasis, the work of masters of one of the most impressive schools of Bulgaria, that of Samokov. Founded in 1770 by Hristo Dimitrov, this icon painting school was at its height at the time of the founder's sons, Zahari and Dimităr and their successors, Stanislav Dospevski and Nikola Obrazopisov.
