The district "beyond the Moskova" in the vicinity of Tretyakov Gallery, whose picturesque cobbled lanes are lined in mansions and colourful churches, oozes with charm. The rehabilitated banks of the Moscova and Gorki Park to the west, also freshened up, are much appreciated by walkers and picnickers. This district is also the home of the new Tretyakov Gallery and the Garage Museum, to which modern and contemporary art lovers make a beeline.
