Just northeast of Moab, the picturesque Utah Scenic Byway 128 skirts the Colorado River for 48km between looming red cliffs to Dewey Bridge, a disused suspension bridge. The road takes you to two pleasant hikes. The first, in Negro Bill Canyon, follows the lush bed of a small creek frequented by beavers. The other, in the heart of the Fisher Towers, leads to vertiginous fluted cliffs where several Westerns were filmed, including John Ford's famous Rio Grande with John Wayne.
