A landmark monument of the city of Levoča and a real architectural gem, St James's Church dates back to the 14C. Over the centuries, many extensions were added, such as the elegant tower built in the 19C. The interior of the church offers a wide range of works of art, including the impressive high altar, which stands over 18m tall. The dazzling gilded and carved wooden altarpiece was made in 1517 by one of the greatest medieval sculptors: Master Paul of Levoča.
