With a rapid descent, towards the bottom of the Melchaa Valley, you reach the chapel hermitage, a 17C sanctuary decorated with painted panels showing the life of the ascetic. Note the fine Gothic Christ from the old church of Sachseln. The neighbouring cell, where the hermit could only remain bent double, was built in 1468 by his fellow Obwald citizens.
