Straddling the border between Uganda and Kenya, Mount Elgon National Park (at an altitude of over 4 000m) extends across the slopes of the volcano which are perfect for climbing and hiking. At night, colonies of elephants attack the rock with their tusks, looking for salt and creating huge caves such as that of Kitum.
