The network of natural grottos in the hill below the castle was once home to an extraordinary 4km-long underground hospital, which was used during the Second World War and then again during the 1956 revolution to treat more than 200 injured people. Here you can visit the kitchens, operating theatre, dormitories, and infirmary, as well as a nuclear shelter which has fortunately never been used. A unique visit.
