The colonial quarter of La Candelaria is a labyrinth of streets set out in a grid. It surrounds Plaza de Bolívar and extends eastward to Carrera 3, at the foot of the cordillera, and northward to Avenida Jiménez de Quesada, which is always very vibrant. It is bound by Calle 7 to the south and Carrera 9 to the west. La Candelaria has witnessed some major historical events. This is the perimeter inside which you will find the most interesting sites in the city: churches, palaces, museums, cultural centres.
