Azraq reserve constitutes an important stage on the journey taken by migratory birds. From February to April and October to December, more than 150 species pass through here, and it is during these periods that a visit is most worthwhile. Sadly, the ever increasing demands of growing towns and farming have reduced the reserve's water surface area, today in part artificially maintained to avoid jeopardising the ecosystem.
