This is the most popular hike on the island and undoubtedly one of the most spectacular in the archipelago. A steep descent along a paved path lined with steps leads down to sea level. From here, you cross several fajãs with their orchards and hamlets, most of whose houses are abandoned. There are magnificent views of the lush fajas and sheer cliffs along the way.
