Chef Nigel Howarth has always been a strong ambassador for Lancashire produce – particularly from the Ribble Valley – and now has his own vegetable garden and polytunnel at this contemporary dining pub. Set menus change with the seasons, and the cooking lacks pretence, instead allowing the true flavours to shine through. The cheese rolls and mini Eccles cakes look set to become staples.
